No Play N Trade Tournament Monday 8/11

After 12 weeks of non stop tournaments, with 100's of smash matches and Evo coming up this weekend, Vicko has decided to take a much needed (and deserved) break. Therefore, he is not holding a tournament on Monday, August 11, 2008.
Tournaments will resume as normal on Monday, August 18, 2008 at 12PM. In the meantime, try to get reacquainted with your family/loved ones, or read a good book.
And if you want to hold the tournament in his place at Play N Trade, the answer is no.

See you in 2 weeks!

E For All - Los Angeles

E For All to showcase BRAWL in Los Angeles along with Super Mario Galaxy!!
Got this message from a friend.. Not sure if this was covered anywhere else, and not about to search for it on the forums right now since I am feeling lazy, but it is relevant Smash news.

Hi Roy,
I don't know if you heard about this, but pass this to the SSBB fans if they
are interested. I may also be going to Anaheim, CA on the weekend of Oct. 20
to go to Knott's Halloween Haunt. If you are available, you are welcome to
join.

"Nintendo will be representin' at E For All in Los Angeles, California next
week, bringing some serious gaming heat. The general public will get its
first hands-on time with Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros. Brawl
starting October 18th, as Nintendo has revealed their full (subject to
change) booth line-up for the four day event. Visitors who hit up the booth
can also take part in a Super Smash Bros. Brawl tournament, one that will
net them a Wii t-shirt, with a brand new tee given away each day."

Saturday July 28th is the grand opening of the Play N Trade at:
9530 S. Eastern Ave.

The tournament starts at 12PM on the dot so you must be registered by 11am to be in the tournament. If you're late then sorry, too bad.
Prizes:
1st Nintendo Wii OR $250 store credit (Your choice. This place carries new games and hardware as well so the credit is smart if you already have a Wii and want other games.)

3rd Play N Trade T-shirt

For the Monday following this Grand Opening Tournament (July 30th), I am beginning a weekly tournament schedule for SSBM. Same rules as I had at Gameworld, same time also (2PM). Be sure to check it out.

The last Gameworld tournament will be on Monday August 6th at 2PM.

AnimeVegas is Labor Day weekend, beginning September 1st. I am doing Singles and Teams again but only single elimination to make it more convention friendly. The tournament is on that Saturday at 10am. Prizes are sponsored by Test Market Evolution.

2nd $40 Gamestop Gift Card
3rd $20 Visa Gift Card

Tournament Catch-up #3 + More Announcements

I'll start with announcements first since they're the most important:

ANIMEVEGAS UPDATE
This year I am running singles and teams at AnimeVegas as I mentioned before, but this time it will be single elimination to make it more friendly for the convention-goers. So, if you come to Animevegas just for the Smash tournament you will probably feel like it was a waste of money. Anyway, the official rules are in the tournaments section I'm just working on if I'm doing the tournament the 1st or 2nd day. Again the convention is from September 1-3, which is Labor Day weekend starting on a Saturday. For more information visit AnimeVegas.com. Signup for the tournament is on-site on the day of the tournament.
GAMEWORLD UPDATE
Well it turns out Gameworld is not closing immediately, but too late because I already found a new spot to hold tournaments. One that has A/C haha. Anyway on Saturday July 28th I am holding a single elimination 1v1 Smash tournament at the Play N Trade at:
9530 S. Eastern Ave.
Las Vegas, NV 89074
The tournament starts at 12PM on the dot so you must be registered by 11am to be in the tournament. If you're late then sorry, too bad. We are anticipating a lot of people because this tournament is being radio advertised. The prize is a Wii! Entry is free so you have nothing to lose! On the Monday following the Grand Opening tournament I will start holding weekly tournaments just like at Gameworld except they're going to be clear on the other side of town :( Good news for Henderson/Green Valley players, not so much for everyone else. I look forward to seeing everyone there on Saturday the 28that 12PM and Monday the 30th at 2PM.
Almost forgot to mention that the last Gameworld tournament will be on Monday August 6th at 2PM. I feel bad leaving the people on the west side out of these tournaments, but its time to expand the VegasSmash experience to another part of Las Vegas. Hopefully if another place pops (Cj's house) that wants to host tournaments or Gameworld stays in business longer then we can start them up again.
Last but not least, OC3 is upon us. The majority of smashers that are going leave tomorrow night. It'll be both fun and a challenge, so wish us luck!
Here's a message for the trolls:
Feel like there's not much to this site? The real content is in the forums, which requires registration, so if you're feeling left out, REGISTER! It's free and I don't sell your info or anything like that. So, register, post in the "Introduce Yourself" forum and find some new smashers in your area!
And now what you've all been waiting for...

Vegas Smash Rankings List #1

Here is the official rankings for Vegas Smash. The panelists for this system consisted of the following:
CLRX (TFI) | Jared (MK) | Kino (3) | CJ (SM) | Ramza
This List will be updated monthly based on tournament results, so make sure you attend the tournaments!
1. SK92 (SM)
2. Miniboss (3)
3. Sug$ (MK)
4. KO (TFI)
5. Vicko (MK)
6. Zeta (MK)
7. Kelsey (SM)
8. Lil Shaun (SM)
9. Keith King (SM)
10. Silin (3)
11. Chelz (MK)
12. Nada$ (SM)
13. Ill-Advised (TFI)
14. Dayozee (TFI)
15. Marlon
If you have any issues with the list, practice smash and attend the tournaments and change everyone's mind. The tournament results speak for themselves so just because you can beat a certain person doesn't mean you are higher than them. This system was designed on consistency as well as overall placement, so the higher you place and the frequency of you placing there has a bearing on where you belong on this list. Watch for the next one on July 30th!

Tournament Catch-up#2 + Announcements

Comic Oasis Low-Tier Tourney (6/22/07)
Full results coming soon. Check back later.

So I'm running the AnimeVegas Smash Tournament again this year. I'm still working out the prizes but they're looking good so far. The convention runs from September 1-3, 2007, which is Labor Day Weekend and it starts on a Saturday. Right now the tournament is scheduled for the first day and I get the room for the ENTIRE DAY. What does this mean? The possibility of Singles, Teams, and FFA/Melee. Sorry no crew battles so don't ask. Visit their site for pricing information as well as other information regarding the convention. Remember, this is an Anime convention featuring a Smash tournament, not the other way around, so don't expect a lot from this tournament based on the admission costs (Kyle).
So if you've been on the board recently you'd know that we've created a ranking system based on a panel of 5 smashers, 1 member of each crew and 1 free-lancer. Well, they've come to a consensus and later today I will release the Top 15 Smashers list! A big difference in this list from the last one is its a lot less popularity based, and more based on tournament results. Having the panel of 5 smashers keeps things neutral as there is no bias towards players from a single crew. The list will be revealed at the tournament today, which starts at 2p.m., and it will go live on the site at about that time as well. So, if you can't make it to the tournament, check back right here!

And now, an announcement.
Before Smash, there was Bemani. Well, DDR really, but then that sucked so we all got into Beatmania. Then Beatmania died down (for me) and that's where Smash came in. Now Beatmania is making its grand appearance in the US soon, so in order to revitalize the "community" in Vegas a good friend of mine and I are starting up tournaments soon for beatmania on the ps2. The details are still being straightened out but you can contribute and give some input on the forums.
